Which MELD does UNOS use?

MELD 3.0 — adopted by OPTN in 2023, replacing MELD-Na. MELD+ shows both, since many published studies and institutional protocols still reference MELD-Na.

Why do MELD 3.0 and MELD-Na differ for my patient?

Three reasons: MELD 3.0 adds 1.33 points for female candidates, incorporates albumin, and caps creatinine at 3.0 mg/dL rather than 4.0.

Is patient data stored anywhere?

No. Everything runs locally and is discarded when the app closes. See the Privacy Policy.

Can I use this for a listing decision?

No. The UNOS section is reference material for perioperative situational awareness. Listing, status assignment, and exception requests go through your transplant program and the NLRB against current OPTN policy at optn.transplant.hrsa.gov.

Reporting a clinical inaccuracy

Email the screen, the inputs used, and the expected value with a citation. Clinical corrections are prioritised over feature requests.
